A RETIRED children’s community Matron who has helped hundreds of vulnerable families in Warrington has been praised at a local NHS awards ceremony.
Sue Lawton received Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s chairman’s Lifetime Achievement award.
Sue, who retired last year as a children’s community matron based at Woolston Clinic, was presented the award at Bridgewater’s annual staff awards ceremony.
Bridgewater chairman Harry Holden said: “The Bridgewater staff awards is a chance to celebrate the real commitment and passion of our staff in delivering quality patient care.
“The chairman’s award for Lifetime Achievement is an opportunity for me to personally highlight and celebrate the outstanding contribution of a staff member each year.
“Sue is a truly worthy winner of this year’s award. Her life-long commitment to children’s nursing in Warrington has been exemplary. She has shown dedication and commitment beyond expectations throughout a long career in the NHS and has been a strong advocate for both children’s community nursing and delivering care closer to home.”
Sue said: “I was overwhelmed to receive the nomination but to then to go on and win the award was amazing. I have had a very rewarding career caring for our most vulnerable children and their families in the community in Warrington. Receiving the award following my retirement last summer has been very special for me.”
