A CROSS-party group of Warrington Euro-sceptics has been out-and-about in the borough campaigning for Britain to leave the European Union.
The group, part of the nationwide leave.eu group, which is also affiliated to Grassroots Out, has been delivering leaflets to homes across the town.
They have also set up street stalls at various locations, including Warrington town centre, Stockton Heath and Widnes.
They claim to have Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, UKIP and other party supporters among their membership.
Group leader Ian Wilson said: “The response we’ve had from the public is phenomenal. I know the Warrington-Worldwide twitter poll shows
63 per cent of respondents in favour of staying in the EU, but we found the opposite.”
The group have their own website http://leave.eu/en/local-groups/group/warrington
Mr Wilson, a 47-year-old IT professional from Great Sankey, said the group believed the best people to govern the UK were the people of the UK.
Although the main reasons to leave relate to democracy, sovereignty and control of there were many others, he added.
