THREE Governors have retired from Warrington Collegiate after amassing more than 60 years between them in their respective posts – including long term Chairman Colin Daniels.
Mr Daniels started as Chairman of the Corporation at the college in 1989, taking a proactive and strategic role and playing a vital part in the complete re-build of the college estate on Winwick Road. Mr Daniels also played a significant role in the successful transfer of the college’s Padgate campus to the University of Chester.
Mr Daniels – who has served on many boards and committees, including the Board of the Association of Colleges and the Warrington Chamber of Commerce, the latter of which he has been the Chief Executive since 1996 – has retired from the college’s Board of Governors after 27 years’ service.
Also retiring was Keith Bland, former leader of Warrington Borough Council, and Eddie McCrudden.
Mr Bland joined the Board of Governors in 1993 as the Vice Chairman of the Corporation. He was made an MBE in 2011 for services to the Community in Cheshire and Warrington. Mr Bland was made a Fellow of Warrington Collegiate in January in recognition of his service.
Mr McCrudden – who joined as Chairman of Finance in 2004 – was also made a Fellow of Warrington Collegiate in January in recognition of his service.
Principal Nichola Newton said: “The college, its learners, staff and fellow governors owe a debt of gratitude to Colin, Keith and Eddie for all they have done for Warrington Collegiate over their long and distinguished service.
“I have felt very well supported by Colin in particular since my appointment as principal at the college. I wish them a very happy and well-earned retirement.”
