Surprise party for WDP founder Dave Thompson

VIDEO: VOLUNTEERS from Warrington Disability Partnership’s information desk at the town’s market staged a surprise party for founder and CEO Dave Thompson.

Dave turned up at Warrington Market expecting to be helping run the charity’s fund-raising tombola to be greeted by more than 100 friends and volunteers from the charity which he helped set up 25 years ago after breaking his neck playing American football.

Two of his favourite performing groups from the annual Disability Awareness Day, Warrington BSL Signing Choir and members of the Ella singing group then entertained Dave and the packed audience at the celebration event.

Warrington Market Manager Steve Pickering opened proceedings as Dave paid tribute to 27 friends and volunteers who had sadly passed away during the past 25 years.
