An inquest into the deaths of the members of Indie band Viola Beach and their manager Craig Tarry  opened at Warrington today.

Evidence of identification was given – but details of the causes of death will not be revealed until the hearing is resumed at a later date.

Band members Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Thomas Lowe, and Jack Dakin, all died alongside their manager Craig when the car they were travelling in plunged more than 80 ft off a bridge and into a canal in Sweden during the early hours of Saturday, February 13.

Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg  opened and adjourned the hearing pending further investigations which are ongoing. He praised the Swedish police for the way they had co-operated with him on the case and he released the bodies to the families so that funerals can take place.
