Fostering service launches social media campaign

WARRINGTON Fostering Service has launched an innovative new social media campaign to inspire residents to become foster carers.
People from across Warrington are being encouraged to visit the council’s Fostering Facebook page and tag friends who they feel would make great foster carers, using the hashtag #tellafriendtofoster.
In doing so, they are instilling that friend with confidence, making them more likely to apply to become a foster carer.
In the days since its launch, the campaign has reached over 15,000 people, generating 107 likes and 40 shares. Eighty seven people have so far been tagged and recommended by friends.
A new, 30 second recruitment video has been developed alongside the campaign, featuring care leaver Khelsi Price.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the council’s lead member for children’s services, said: “We know that word of mouth is one of our biggest recruitment tools, so by developing this campaign, we’ve brought the concept of people recommending each other into the 21st century.
“This campaign is a great example of how residents can use social media positively to help others in their community.”
