Further cash injection to get residents more active!

ACTIVE Cheshire has £200,000 available to invest in Warrington and Cheshire to help fund innovative ideas that could support local people to get more active.

‘Active Anywhere’ investment 2016 can provide funding to support a charity, business, community or faith group that would like to get their membership more physically active.

A lack of physical activity has been proven to have a negative impact on the confidence, mental health and physical wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, so it is Active Cheshire’s aim to address this issue by investing in projects, programmes and interventions that support local people to become more active.

By getting more people active it will help improve and extend peoples lives.

Last year Active Cheshire invested over £500,000 in the residents of Cheshire and Warrington and now a further £200,000 is available to support local people to improve their physical activity habits.

Now Active Cheshire are looking for groups of people that come together on a regular basis and feel they would benefit from getting more active.

Active Anywhere investment funds the imaginative, the quirky, the non-traditional routes to a healthier lifestyle through physical activity. This might be a group of young mums, a luncheon club, a parish council, a youth club or an extra care facility with a new idea and need additional funds to realise their ambition – if so, Active Cheshire would welcome your application.

Anne Boyd Chief Executive of Active Cheshire said: “We have invested in over 100 projects in 2015 that supported local people from aged 3 to 93 to get active.  The quality and breadth of applications we received for the last investment round was truly impressive, so I’m hoping that this year we will see new and innovative projects that make a difference to people’s lives and deliver the greatest sustainable impact for the residents of Cheshire & Warrington.

“At Active Cheshire we pride ourselves on our knowledge and insight of the local population and are seeking applications for projects that tackle gender, social and economic inequalities and barriers preventing people from becoming more active, particularly within deprived communities,” added Anne.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Active Cheshire website www.activecheshire.org

Submission deadline for applications is 5.00pm, Thursday March 31.
