Women’s cricket drive at Lymm

LYMM Oughtrington Park Cricket Club has big plans for the development of its women’s team.
A dedicated coach will be in place for the 2016 season with the aim of making the team more competitive and building a larger women’s squad. The club will also be working closely with Cheshire Cricket and Lymm High School to develop a junior girls’ squad
Women’s team captain Kerry Knight wants to encourage local women of all ages to sample the sport at the club’s winter training sessions at Lymm Leisure Centre.
She said: “We’ve all made great friends and have so much fun playing together as a team at this fantastic club. Training feels more like a social event, especially in the summer, when the après-drinks tend to last longer than the training session!
“Why not make it a family affair? Many current players got involved because their daughters played – most knew absolutely nothing about cricket beforehand. Now they love it and playing alongside their daughter is special.”
LOPCC’s winter nets training sessions are held every Tuesday evening  in the Leisure Centre Sports Hall, juniors at– 6pm and women at 8pm.
