COMEDY favourite Jo Brand, will be heading to Warrington next week as part of her Sport Relief Challenge.
The comedian will be trekking along the Warrington section of the Trans Pennine Trail on Wednesday (January 27) as part of a 150-mile hike from Hull to Liverpool.
The challenge, named Jo Brand’s Hell of a Walk, will see the 58-year-old travel coast-to-coast across the country in just seven days.
Jo, who started her career as a psychiatric nurse, said: “When I first started training for this challenge, I didn’t realise I was not the national fitness icon I’d always believed myself to be. My body is a temple …it’s big and it doesn’t move!
“The realisation is gradually dawning that I have to walk a very, very, very long way, using only my poor little legs to carry me. But the hope is that the walk will raise much needed funds for people who really deserve it, which will keep me going.”
Warrington Borough Council’s ranger service manage the 11.5 mile-long Warrington stretch of the trail and host a range of events on it  throughout the year.
Cllr Hans Mundry, the borough council’s lead member for highways, transportation and public realm, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jo to one of Warrington’s much loved trails and help put Warrington on the map once again!
“The Trail is suitable for people of all ages to enjoy the scenic views and last year, we welcomed more than 117,000 visits to the trail in Warrington.”
