Ideal solution for Warrington’s Digital Mayor

WARRINGTON’S first ever “Digital Mayor” is set to speed up his experiences on the super information highway after being donated a new mobile phone by local telecoms company Ideal Unified Communications.

On receiving his new phone Cllr Geoff Settle said: “I was delighted to receive a Microsoft Lumia 640 from Matt and Steve at Ideal.

“I have been extremely busy championing Social Media which has been well received. This devise should enable me to deliver tweets and Facebook reports as and when they happen.

“I have been using a camera and transferring photographs to social media via my PC late at night which takes an age.”

Cllr Settle used to have a Blackberry which suited him well but the council did not renew the contract for the device.

He found the phone he was given as a replacement difficult to use. He couldn’t get used to the touch keyboard and was often unable to successfully navigate through the two security levels.

Cllr Settle added:  “When I attended Rotary Oktoberfest charity fund raiser last October at the Parr Hall, I described the problems I was having to a number of people. One of them showed me what he was using and recommended I contact Matt from Ideal.

“I have yet to use the new phone in earnest but I have been on something similar that the Mayoress uses. I am looking forward to keeping everyone up to speed with what myself, the Mayoress and Teddy George are up to as when it happens, without the hours or days delay that is often the case now.”

Ideal’s Commercial Director Steve Butler said: “We are delighted to be able to help Warrington’s Digital Mayor with his social media while he is on the move and busy engaging with the local community.”
