Planners defer decision on “granny flat”

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have deferred a decision on an application to convert a double garage into a granny flat at Lymm.
Members of the borough’s development management committee were told the proposal in Oughtrington Lane had originally been approved but an amended version was being recommended by officers for refusal.
The committee was told the scheme was approved in 2015 and involved conversion of the garage, a link between the adjoining dwelling and the converted garage and a fire floor extension above an existing extension. The new applicant involved an additional extension at the rear of the garage.
Officers believed the proposal  would constitute inappropriate development in the Green Belt, affecting its openness.
But councillors decided they needed more information and deferred their decision.
Lymm Parish Council has not objected to the scheme.
