A 14-year-old schoolgirl from Warrington has won praise for her work in collecting “an enormous amount” of donated goods to aid Syrian refugees.
Cody Welsh, a Year 10 pupil at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, collected items given by fellow pupils.
She said: “I am absolutely stunned with the response from the whole school regarding my recent Syria refugee aid project.
“The outcome was well and truly astounding, I’m still in utter awe of the way that everyone came together to help the people that need it the most.
“I have seen pictures of the refugee camps and how helpful the donations have been and still are. It’s unbelievable how different things are just a few countries apart. In the New Year I’m looking forward to completing many more campaigns and hope that I still have the full support of the school and students.”
Nora Carlin from Refugees Aid from the North West of England, said: “Well done Cody.  At 14 you have shown tremendous initiative and compassion for others. You should be very proud of yourself.”
