Heartless burglars steal little girl’s wheelchair

WARRINGTON’S social media community has rallied to try and help recover a little girl’s wheelchair which was stolen during a burglary at her family home in Padgate overnight on Saturday.

The wheelchair was in the family car which was used as a getaway vehicle following the break-in on George Crescent, near the King and Queen pub at Padgate, when all the family Christmas presents were also stolen.

An appeal for the return of the wheelchair by family friend Danis Louise has already attracted nearly 5,000 shares on facebook.

Dani posted on her facebook page: “Last night my friends house was broken in to near the King & Queen, Warrington. Before I continue I want to tell you about my friends.

“On the 28th Feb 2011 Sarah gave birth to two precious twin girls , however Lydia became quite poorly after birth and eventually was transferred to Alder Hey who confirmed Lydia had a bleed on the right side of her brain, as well as meningitis.

“Without going in to too much detail Lydia’s prognosis was not good, however Alder Hey worked tirelessly around the clock to give Lydia the best chance of survival as possible, six months later Lydia was allowed home.

“Lydia has continued to break down every object in her way, but it hasn’t been without a fight, as a result of everything Lydia went through when she was just weeks old, Lydia was left with Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus.

“To get around Lydia has a specially made wheel chair, it is called an Action Junior Wheelchair and is in Shocking Pink, it took months to get and Lydia is only 4 soon to be 5 – it is a small chair.

“During the early hours last night, Sarah’s and Shep’s house was broken in to, their car which was a grey Kuga MK14 XUS, not only did they take the car, they also stole all the children’s Christmas presents, AND the worst of all. Lydia’s chair, which now means Lydia can not get out and about.

“This is heartbreaking, but please can you raise awareness of what has happened and we hope the Wheelchair at the very last will be returned to the family.”

Police are investigating the burglary. Anyone with information should call 101 ref 0715379609. Or call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111

  1. Here’s hoping for once that this type of scum who think they have a right to break into other peoples homes and steel their belongings have some sort of conscience after seeing all the news and social media reports and that they leave the little girls wheelechair somewhere where it can be easily found and returned to her.
