Coping with the festive season blues

VIDEO:HEALTH chiefs have produced a video to help people who suffer from stress, sadness or loneliness during the festive period.

To help people cope with the festive blues, 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has produced a short video with handy tips and advice to help look after your mental health and wellbeing.

The video features Eileen MacDonald, from Warrington, one of the Trust’s volunteers who talks about her own experiences and coping mechanisms following the death of her husband at this time of year.

Steve Hull, Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality said: “Christmas can be a difficult time of year for some people which can have a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing. In this video we share our advice on how to deal with grief, loneliness, money issues and over indulging.

“We hope that this advice may provide some help for our service users and carers, especially those who live alone.”

Another useful resource the Trust has to help people beat the festive blues is an online self-help directory. This brings together a positive health and wellbeing a-z guide, mental health resources, useful helplines and an index of local support services.

There is also a self-help directory on the Trust’s website – www.5boroughspartnership.nhs.uk/beat-the-festive-blues.
