Pickpockets active in Warrington town centre

POLICE are warning Christmas shoppers to be on their guard with pickpockets active in Warrington town centre.

Shoppers are being warned to be careful with purses, wallets and cash and to take extra care when withdrawing money.

Police have taken reports that members of the public have had cash taken from them after using ATM machines in the Town Centre.

A police spokesperson said: “Please be extra careful whilst out shopping and be very aware of your surroundings, don’t hesitate, call the Police if you see anything suspicious.”

In one incident today (Tuesday) an elderly male had cash taken from him whilst using an ATM in Buttermarket Street, Warrington.

In another an elderly lady was having a cup of tea in The Holy Trinity Church, Sankey Street, Warrington, when she has had a large amount of cash stolen from her trolley.

Possible offender is described as a white male, 30-40 years of age, short dark hair, slight build, wearing a dark green jacket and possibly a scarf.
