Two arrested after police chase

TWO suspected criminals who refused to stop during a high-profile police chase which lasted more than 20 minutes, covering two separate counties, were eventually arrested at Daresbury near Warrington.

Police had attempted to stop the driver of a white VW Polo car during Operation Crossbow, designed to disrupt lawbreakers’ use of the roads.

But the driver refused to stop sparking a pursuit starting on Moor Lane South in Widnes and ending at Daresbury Technology Park, where Police arrested two men – a 28-year-old from Frodsham and a 22-year-old from Runcorn.

During he pursuit the car travelled into Merseyside and back into Cheshire and was eventually blocked in at Daresbury Technology Park.

The two men are now in custody being quizzed by detectives.

Cheshire Police said the pursuit, which lasted for around 20 miles, was carried out by patrols who kept a “safe distance.”
