LYMM Town Crier Peter Powell has been honoured by his peers after making the last 15 of the British Championships.
He was presented with the Loyal Company of Town Criers Fred Ferris Trophy, in memory of the former Swindon Town Crier.
It is an honour which can only be presented once in a lifetime and is given to the town crier felt to be most deserving who didn’t win the British Championship.
A delighted Peter said: “It is a real honour to be presented with this award which is in memory of a true gentleman who was a good old fashioned town crier.
“You are nominated for it by your peers and can only be presented with it once – so I feel very honoured to have received it.”
There are 133 registered town criers in the country and Peter made it down to the last 15 in the British Championships.
