Benefit cheat fled the town

A BENEFIT cheat who obtained more than £2,700 from Warrington Borough Council fled the town after being caught.
But Laura Kolosa, 24, was traced to a new address in Cambridgeshire and arrested, magistrates were told at Warrington.
Kolosa, formerly of Folly Lane, Warrington pleaded guilty to benefit fraud and was ordered to observe a 6pm-6am curfew for 10 weeks, to repay the money and to pay £200 costs.
The court was told Kolosa failed to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court in September but was arrested in Cambridgeshire.
When she eventually appeared before the court she admitted benefit fraud, and magistrates heard that between  November 2013 and September last year she had claimed benefit as a single person but failed to declare that her partner lived with her.
As a result she was overpaid housing benefit of £2,785.
After the hearing, Adrian Webster, the council’s benefits and exchequer services manager, said: “Every day in the UK over 200 benefit thieves are caught – the clear message is if you commit benefit fraud, you will be caught.”
