Help the children Santa may not visit this Christmas

AN appeal has gone out to make sure as many Warrington children as possible wake up to a present under the tree this Christmas.
For the third year running, the Neighbourhoods in Warrington team are asking for donations to be given to deserving children and families in the local area.
Donations of new toys, gift vouchers, sweets, non-perishable foods, toiletries and new nightwear are all accepted and are needed by November 1.
All donations are wrapped by the neighbourhoods team, ready to be put under the Christmas tree.
Residents can drop off donations at Orford Community Hub on Festival Avenue or the Contact Centre on Horsemarket Street.
All families are referred to the service by council partners.
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the council’s lead member for children’s services, said: “It’s a sad fact that during a time of joy, festivity and celebration, some children have little or nothing to look forward to this Christmas.
“For many of our young people and their families, these donations may be the only gifts they receive.
“Last year, 160 children received a present thanks to generous donations. I would like to take this opportunity to urge residents to buy just one extra gift this year and help light up a child’s face on Christmas morning.”
Toys should be suitable for children aged 0-16 years.
