DISNEY has just finished filming a 20-part children’s fantasy series in Warrington – strengthening the town’s claims to be a location for film crews.
“The Evermore Chronicles” was produced by Liverpool’s Lime Pictures in a warehouse at Woolston, with an international cast.
Local businesses benefited in producing props and equipment for filming.
It’s the latest in a series of film and TV productions to be filmed, or partly filmed, in Warrington.
They include popular BBC shows like “Ordinary Lies”, “Our Zoo” and “Don’t Tell the Bride.”
Other shows recently filmed in town include “After Hours”, a Jellylegs Production for Sky 1, “Safe House”, Eleventh Hour Films for ITV and Scott & Bailey – Series 3, Red Production Company for ITV.
The borough council works closely with Creative England on filming enquiries and sits on their Cheshire Film Partnership Group, which works to develop, improve and sustain a positive and robust filming infrastructure for the county.
Leader of the council, Cllr Terry O’Neil said: “We have seen a huge increase in filming in Warrington and this is fantastic to see. Not only does it help raise the profile of the town and can boost tourism, it can also be great for local businesses as Disney’s latest visit clearly shows.
“The council receives lots of filming requests each year and we work very closely with filming and production companies throughout the process. We were delighted to welcome Disney to Warrington and we hope it will encourage more people from far and wide to come and visit.”
“The Evermoor Chronicles” will be aired on the Disney channel in the autumn.
