AN intense 12 week rugby themed fitness course, which has already helped 76 Warrington men lose a total of 93 stone, is set to launch a female only version of the programme.

Fit to Tackle for Her will follow the same format as the men’s course which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people who don’t usually exercise by challenging them to take part in three physical activities every week and helping them to improve their diet.

More than 70 women have already registered for the free programme which is run by LiveWire and Warrington Wolves.

The fitness teams at the organisations will challenge the women to three sessions a week covering all kinds of physical activity including Touch Rugby to improve their strength and to help them shed the pounds.

Neil Morley, Senior LiveWire Advisor for Exercise, said: “The programme has been a tremendous success and has proved popular with not just men but also their female relatives which led us to set up Fit to Tackle for Her.

“The women have now got the chance to compete with the men and prove that they can be just as successful.”

The launch of Fit to Tackle for Her comes as participants on the male only Fit to Tackle 2 have just completed their challenge, managing to shed three stone more than those who completed the first round back in June.

The biggest loser of the group was 35-year-old James Milsom. He lost a staggering 17% of his body weight whilst on the programme taking him from 17st 5lbs to a trim 14st 5lbs, an impressive weight loss of three stone.

James commented: “I would have never achieved what I did without Fit to Tackle. I really enjoyed the challenge and working as part of a team who were all trying to achieve the same goal.

“The programme was really well organised and I’d like to thank LiveWire and Warrington Wolves for all their support.”

Both male Fit to Tackle programmes, which are commissioned by Warrington Public Health, have been an amazing success with 50 out of the 76 participants achieving a 5% weight loss or more.
