WARRINGTON Collegiate Principal Nichola Newton has been appointed as a Trustee of the Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace.
Warrington Collegiate and the Foundation have always enjoyed a good relationship, with both staff and students participating in fundraising activities and events. Students at the college also attend Warrington Youth Club, which is based at the Peace Centre.
Colin Parry said, “As Chairman and Co-founder of the Foundation, I am always looking for talented individuals to join us and bring their skills and career experience to bear in helping us continue our proud record of success as a unique British charity. I am sure that Nichola’s energy and enthusiasm will be a great asset to us.”
This appointment will facilitate closer, collaborative working, allowing staff from both organisations to share their expertise and experience for the benefit of young people and adults, especially around the PREVENT agenda, raising awareness of the issue of radicalisation in schools and colleges.
Nichola said, “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Trustee onto the Foundation for Peace Board and I feel very proud to be associated with such a well-respected, values-driven organisation. The Foundation has worked tirelessly and pragmatically for peace and non-violent conflict resolution, challenging the belief systems and contextual factors that lead to radicalisation. I believe there is a lot we can learn from each other and I am looking forward to developing a close, mutually beneficial relationship between the Collegiate and the Foundation”.
