TITLE chasing Warrington Town have announced three new signings as they continued pre-season with an impressive 2-1 win away at Barnton.

Town have strengthened their squad with experience, signing midfielders Danny Ventre and Iain Howard and defender Danny O’Donnell as the club assembles a squad capable of competing for the league title.

Previously at Telford, midfielder Ventre, aged 29 has played in the Football League for Accrington Stanley, and from 2007 to 2013 played in the League of Ireland for Sligo Rovers.

Left midfielder Howard, aged 27, started out with Manchester United and Preston North End and after being released joined Droylsden. He joined Ashton United in the summer of 2007, scoring 34 goals in 130 games over three seasons.

He then enjoyed three promotion-winning campaigns at Chester, scoring 35 goals in 111 appearances.

Meanwhile defender O’Donnell, who started his career at Liverpool, making the squad for the World Club Challenge in 2005, has played in the Australian Premier League after previous experience at Barrow, Stockport County and Crewe Alexander.

Club Chairman Toby Macormac said: “These three signings bring a wealth of experience to the club and give us what it takes to get us to the next level alongside our other additions and players retained from last season.

“Our squad is now complete and one which I believe will be challenging for the title.”

It was “old boys” Ben Wharton, with a “screamer” and Chris Gahgan who scored the goals at Barnton to secure victory, following last week’s 9-1 warm up in Wales.
