ST Rocco’s Starlight Walk raised over £129,000 which will make a huge difference to patient care at the Warrington based hospice.

More than 1200 ladies pounded the pavements of Warrington during the 10th anniversary of the iconic event, sponsored by Livewire, turning the streets pink in support of the Hospice.

The sea of walkers were led from the starting point of Orford Jubilee Hub by eight ladies who were completing the challenge for the tenth year, donning special VIP sashes. Fundraisers completed the route of either 6.5 or 13 miles and were greeted by Wolves star Ben Harrison at the finish, who handed them their medals and posed for photos.

Three hundred volunteers also helped ensure the event ran smoothly, with many lending their time for the tenth year in a row.

Jane Clarke, who helped out at the start before completing the walk herself, said: “I don’t know where the last 10 years have gone! I love volunteering here – you really see the best of people and the atmosphere is amazing.”

Claire Houghton, Income Generation Manager at St. Rocco’s, added: “We knew the tenth anniversary of the walk would be special but it far exceed our expectations. Starlight is our biggest fundraiser and a great example of Warrington coming together to support the Hospice, which really does belong to the community. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to such a special event – roll on 2016!”
