VIDEO: FINE weather greeted the annual Lymm May Queen Festival as hundreds of local school children and community groups took part in colourful parade through the village.
Town Crier Peter Powell got the “key to the door” as he celebrated his 21st Lymm May Queen event. Meanwhile he has made the last 18 of the British Town Crier Championships which take place in September.
Festival Chairman Steve Harper said: “The hosting of events such as Lymm May Queen is becoming ever more complicated, with rising costs, increased legal requirements and an increased demand on time and resources.
“The support we receive from Lymm Parish Council and local traders and businesses is vital to the future of Lymm May Queen and without such we could not host the event.”
Collections taken during the day will benefit local charities and community groups.
Any one who would like to provide feedback on the event or to get involved in a future event can contact Steve on 07815 961306 or email [email protected]

Thanks for the Video Gary. One thing about being near the front of the parade is that you don’t see the rest of it but now I have and it looked great. The Mayoress and myself had a great time and stayed until near the end finishing with an interview the Warrington Hospital Radio. Loved the ceremonies especialy the Coronations.
Mayor of Warrington Cllr Geoff Settle.
Thank you for your kind words Mr Mayor – probably bump into each other quite a few times this year!!!
