A teenager’s dream came true when she met her heroes TV presenter Helen Skelton and Warrington Wolves star Richie Myler.
Sophie Hilditch was first in line to meet Helen, who was at a local bookstore to sign copies of her new children’s adventure story book, Amy Wild: Amazon Summer.
Accompanying Helen, who is eight months pregnant,  was her husband Richie, who plays for Wolves and England, and Sophie had her photo taken with them.
The 15-year-old Penketh High School pupil said: “It really is an incredible dream come true. Not only is Helen my idol, but I am also the biggest ever fan of Richie and the Wolves. To meet them both in one go and have my photograph taken with them is amazing.”
To make the day even better, as she was first in the queue, Sophie got to take home the bill board advertising the event, which Helen also signed for her.
Sophie, of Oakmere Drive, Penketh along with her mum Sarah and aunt Rebecca Clark, were determined to attend the event and arrived three hours early to be sure of securing a place.
Sophie, who hopes for a career in media after she leaves school, was delighted to get some tips from Helen, a former Blue Peter presenter who went on to appear in top series Countryfile and Holiday Hit Squad. Helen is also well known for her presenting and commentary work with BBC sports and BT Sport, and live coverage of the FA Women’s Super League football matches.
Sophie said: “She advised me to apply for the ITV Inspirations work experience course, which she did –  I’d love to follow in Helen’s footsteps and get a career in TV.”
