LYMM Oughtrington Park Cricket Club’s coach, Rick Hughes, has been awarded the “Coach of the Year 2015” award by the English Cricket Board (ECB) in Cheshire.
His reward is o be invited as ECB guest of honour to the 2nd Investec Test Match at Headingley on May 29.
Rick’s influence on young players at Lymm is illustrated by the fact that last season the Under 13s team won the NCJCA cup competition.
Club spokesman Bob Sabberton said: “The future of cricket in Lymm can be seen when our juniors play their matches. Last year they won the cup competition and this was due to the talents of the Under 13 boys which had been nurtured and developed by their coach, Rick Hughes.
“Rick has brought a thoroughly professional style to his coaching which the boys have obviously taken to in a big way.
“The club committee extends its thanks and congratulations to Rick and is proud to be the home club for the winner of an ECB coach award.”
