Books on Prescription scheme launched

LIVEWIRE has launched a new Books on Prescription scheme, as part of a ground-breaking national initiative headed up by The Reading Agency.
Each of LiveWire’s 11 libraries now has a collection of books to support and inform people with dementia, their carers, family & friends.
The books chosen by healthcare experts, people with dementia and carer groups will be available for anyone to borrow from their local library and will form part of a recommendation list for Health Care Professionals.
The scheme is supported by many organisations including Carers UK, Dementia UK and the Alzheimer’s Society and builds on the success of the Books on Prescription collection launched in 2013; which includes books for people with common mental health conditions.
Jan Puzylo, Senior LiveWire Advisor said: “Dementia presents a key national health challenge with a profound social, personal and economic impact. We hope this new scheme will help play its part by spreading understanding and knowledge throughout Warrington.”
