LIBERAL Democrats at Warrington have selected two sitting borough councillors as their prospective Parliamentary candidates for next year’s General Election.
Cllr Bob Barr, of Lymm, will fight the Warrington South seat and Cllr Stefan Krizanac, from Westbrook, will fight Warrington North.
The party say they intend to fight a “strongly local” Warrington campaign.
Cllr Barr, an academic geographer and deputy leader of the borough council Liberal Democrat group, has been a parish councillor for more than 11 years and has represented Lymm on the borough council for nearly nine years.
He said: “I am delighted to be chosen to stand for the Liberal Democrats in one of the most important and unpredictable general elections in our lifetime.
“Warrington South remains a three way marginal seat where the outcome will depend strongly on the local campaign. I look forward to telling the electorate what the Liberal Democrats have done for Warrington residents both locally and nationally. We have a record to be proud of.
“When they hear our message, voters are impressed by the impact that Liberal Democrat values have had on government policy. I will be bringing that positive voice to the campaign”.
Cllr Krizanac works for Royal Mail and won a seat from Labour in Westbrook at the local elections last May. 
He said: “As a Liberal Democrat with a very strong sense of justice, I would work hard to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed in life.
“Investment in education is vital to ensure our children have a bright start to their lives. In North Warrington some people are prosperous while others are struggling on so many fronts. In a society where some are accumulating wealth on the backs of low paid I will ask for a greater contribution from the better-off through fairer taxation. If elected, I would work to bring more business opportunities for people to find better jobs in Warrington.
“I am not a career politician so if that is what you want, don’t count on me. But if you want a hard working person, passionate about our community, then I am your man.”
