“The Importance of Being Earnest”- Oscar Wilde’s best loved and most regularly performed comedy is to be given a classy up-date from Cheshire- based Consensus Theatre, when it arrives at Culcheth Sports Club on Friday November 14.
The innovative group have opted to set the play in the vibrant 1950s ”The 50s were about fun and that’s what we’re planning to create on stage” said founder member Phillip Wade.
“We don’t have a director as such. We all take responsibility and offer suggestions. If they don’t work we change them.
Jane Rigby, another founder member, said: “It’s a very refreshing way of working – and one which really brings out the best in us all as actors and in the characters themselves.”

The group is supporting the Neuro Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.
