New library opened at school

A NEW school library has opened at Frodsham CE Primary School – thanks to funding by the Parent Teacher Association. Pupils, staff, governors and members of the PTA welcomed Frodsham councillor Fran Sutton to celebrate the occasion.

Cllr Sutton visited the library and classrooms and was quizzed by Year 6 pupils on how town councils operate. The opening ceremony was also attended by pupils who had won an “Extreme Reading” competition and others who had drawn their favourite book cover. Several events to promote reading had been taking place at the school, including workshops by Frodsham’s own Poet Laureate Andrew Rudd and author Damian Harvey.

Headteacher Lucy Kirby said: “We are delighted with our new school library. It is bright and inviting and will hopefully encourage all our children to develop a real love of reading.”
