Major roadworks start in village

WORK has started on a highways project designed to improve the condition of footways and carriageway in the Latchford Village area of Warrington.
The scheme is expected to take about 12 weeks to complete and will be carried out between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, with some work being carried out at weekends.
It will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption.
In the first phase, kerbs and footpaths will be renewed and reconstructed with better quality materials to improve the appearance of the street and to match the streetscape in the Bridge Shopping Centre area.
The north footpath will be widened to create more room for pedestrians.
Phase Two will involve removing the existing flagged footway and replacing with bituminous materials.
The third and fourth phases will mean closing the road for resurfacing from 9am to 2.30pm from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 28. Vehicle access will be under the control of the contractor.
At other times the road will be open.
Warrington Borough Council will be working with local businesses over arrangements for access to properties on Knutsford Road during the works. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all tims.
Buses will be diverted while the road closure is in place with information provided at bus stops.
