A WARRINGTON based wine merchant is urging people to contact police if they are offered cheap champagne and spirits over the Christmas period following a raid on a warehouse.
Ruth Yates from Stockton Heath based Corks Out said the robbery took place at their warehouse in Runcorn at 3.30pm last Sunday (December 22), when raiders stole more than £6,000 worth of Champagne and Spirits, mostly Laurent Perrier Rose in gift boxes.
Ruth said: “If anyone is offered any Laurent Perrier cheap with the lot number 23pz109390 then please contact Cheshire Police.
“Also, if anyone was in the vicinity of Stuart Road, Manor Park Industrial Estate around this time and noticed anything suspicious then please contact the police.”
Young men in their early 20s and driving a white transit van were seen in the area..
Ruth added: “We had just received the last of our stock on Friday and it was to be delivered to the stores on Monday, therefore, it was very inconvenient not to be able to get hold of any more stock in time.
“The thieves also damaged CCTV cameras, the alarm system and warehouse door. Our team have all put a lot of effort in over the Christmas period and it’s a shame when this happens.
“Cheshire Police were on the scene in seven minutes of the alarm going off, however, it took only 4 minutes for the thieves to carry out the burglary.”
