Creative skills are a perfect remedy

GROUPS of people with mental health needs at Warrington came together to showcase their creative skills in a one-off Christmas show.
An audience of more than 80 family and friends attended the performance staged by Creative Remedies groups at the Pyramid arts centre.
Beginners and advanced music groups, a performing arts group and a reading group put on the show.
Creative Remedies is a borough council programme of arts and wellbeing activities for adults with mental health needs.
Its aim is to help people develop new skills, structure and confidence in a relaxed environment.
Cllr Pat Wright, the council’s lead member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “I was so impressed with this show and the work that the whole team put it to making it happen. It was truly lovely to watch such talent and to see how services such as this are so vital to helping some of our most vulnerable residents. The performers shone and I feel very proud to have been invited along.”
Phil Redmond, team manager of the Creative Remedies outreach team, said: “The best thing about the day was seeing the confidence that individuals have developed through creative remedies.”
Creative Remedies groups are open to any resident over the age of 18 who wants to develop new skills and improve their confidence.
