Man rescued from river

A MAN was rescued from the River Mersey at Bridge Foot, Warrington in an operation involving fire and rescue crews from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Knutsford.
A boat and water safety equipment was used to secure the man, who was then handed over to the care of paramedics.
Police were at the scene during the rescue.
Two fire engines and a boat from Warrington, one fire engine and a specialist rope rescue unit from Knutsford and one fire engine and a hydraulic platform from Stockton Heath were involved in the operation.
It is not known how the man came to be in the water
