Road works could cause motorway delays

THE Highways agency has issued warnings of roadworks on the M62 and M6 which could have an impact on travel times, including for Warrington Town fans traveling to Lancaster, tomorrow, Saturday.
Work is taking place on the M62 Junction 11 Birchwood to Junction 12 Eccles Interchange to resurface and replace road markings and studs on all lanes of the M62 in both directions from junction 11 to 12.
There will be a series of overnight lane closures running Fridays to Mondays from 10.00pm to 5.00am with single lane running and a 50mph speed restriction. Between 5.00am and 10.00pm on Mondays all lanes will be kept open and there will be daytime single lane closures on Saturdays and Sundays. Work will be completed in January 2014.
Meanwhile a project is taking place to repair bridges carrying the M6 over local roads at Junction 33 Lancaster.
The work involves routine concrete repairs and installing new safety barriers along the southbound carriageway just north of Junction 33. The work is due to be completed by Friday, December 20. Some lane closures and a 50mph speed limit will be in place.
