FIRE crews from Warrington were called to the M56 motorway near Lymm today when a car caught fire.
They found the vehicle on the hard shoulder of the east bound carriageway, well alight.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinghish the blaze. One land of the motorway was sealed off by the Highways Agency.
Crews spent some time damping down the area afterwards. No-one was hurt.
Three fire engines were involved in the operation, including one from Wilmslow.
