Celebrating young researchers

WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat is encouraging young scientists, engineers and mathematicians to take part in the annual SET for Britain Competition which showcases and celebrates the work of young researchers.
Each applicant is invited to produce an A1-sized poster to present the results of their studies and the finalists will be invited to explain their work to an expert panel.
The Final takes place at the House of Commons in March and there is a £3,000 cash prize for the winner of each of five categories – biological and biomedical sciences, physics, chemistry, engineering and maths.
The deadline for applications is Friday December 20 and more details are available at www.setforbritain.org.uk
Mr Mowat said: “As one of a very small number of MPs with either a scientific or engineering qualification, I’m always keen to raise the profile of, mathematicians, engineers and scientists.
“The SET for Britain competition is a great opportunity for young scientists to show off the work they are doing to a wider audience as well as helping to inspire the next generation of researchers.”
