Over 50s group seeks new partners

A NEW group for older people in the Warrington area has already recruited more than 600 members and is now looking for new partners to expand its range of activities.
The LifeTime Network was launched in June with the intention of uniting Warrington’s over-50s in a fun, informative and supportive community which has easy access to a wide range of learning, social and health support services.
Activities on offer already include Yoga, Zumba, reading groups, craft activities and music lessons, and now the team is asking for people or businesses in the town to contact them if they would like to set up and run a class, group or activity.
Val Walsh, who operates from the LifeTime Centre on Sankey Street where many of the activities are based, said: “We asked all of our members what their hobbies are and what they would like from LifeTime and the results are so varied – from cruise holidays to Morris dancing and carpentry to floristry!
“That’s why we want to meet with individuals and businesses who have ideas for classes or activities that older people would find interesting or useful. The focus of LifeTime is enjoying and making the most of being an older person in Warrington and we know that there are hundreds of companies, organisations and individuals who could help with this.
“The network is widening to provide services and activities across the town at other venues so it isn’t always essential that this takes place in the town centre. Similarly, if someone already organises activities and events for older people in their locality, we would be happy to promote this to our members. It’s all about putting them in touch with the many things that are being offered in the communities they live in – and creating more for them to enjoy.”
