A THUG fled empty handed after staff at a Warrington convenience store foiled a robbery attempt.
The raid was at the One Stop Shop in Dorchester Road, Great Sankey at 10pm on Thursday last week, November 14.
Police today appealed for witnesses of the attempted robbery.
They said a man entered the shop armed with a four inch knife.
He fled when staff activated and smoke began to fill the shop. He is believed to have fled on foot across Dorchester Road and into housing estate.
The man is described as 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall, in his early 20s with a slight to medium build.
He was wearing a pale camouflaged balaclava which was possibly of lycra material, grey/white long sleeved top which was fitted, and dark jeans. He also had grey trainers and beige fingerless gloves.
DC Tracy Earley said: “Thankfully nothing was stolen and no-one was unharmed.
“Officers have been following a number of lines of enquiry and would urge anyone with information to contact police to help find those responsible.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Earley on 101 or, alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
