WARRINGTON Town Football Club’s new community development officer is “home grown” Tom Everson.
Tom aged 18, started playing at the club with the Under 12s moving up the age groups becoming part of the club’s double winning Youth team last season, while studying at Priestley College.
He has also had a taste of first team experience and has now landed his “dream job” at the club.
“A lot of my mates hate getting up and going into work but I love my job,” said Tom, who is currently a member of the new reserve team with first team ambitions.
“I played in the first team a couple of seasons ago when I was only 16 and I have been on the bench a few times and still have ambitions to play first team football,” added the young centre back.
Tom started working part-time for the club during his school holidays helping run the popular soccer camps.
From the age of 9-15 he was at the Crewe United Soccer Academy dreaming of being a professional footballer but is now delighted to have landed the role of community development officer.
As well as running soccer camps at the club Tom is visiting local schools, helping set up after school clubs.
But it is not just football. Other sports are involved and there is a big emphasis on encouraging youngsters to live healthy lifestyles, playing sport and eating healthy foods.
“If the opportunity to play for the first team came a long I would take it but the coaching has to come first because it is my job,” added Tom, who is sponsored by Golden Gates Housing Trust and United Utilities.
He is currently doing his FA Level Two coaching badge and is busy preparing for the hectic half term camps which will be running at the club starting on October 21.
