A LYMM dad is preparing to cycle across England to raise money for a local pre-school.
Steve Mee, of Ashcroft Rd, is due to cycle 300 miles in the round trip; which will take him from his home in Lymm to Hull on the other side of the country.
The trip, which will be completed over the two days 27th/28th October, will be the first time Steve has ever attempted to cycle such a long distance.
Steve is undertaking the journey to raise money for St Mary’s Pre-School on Crouchley Lane in Lymm. The pre-school – a registered charity – has been operating for over 35 years in the village and relies on fundraising to enable it to offer local families childcare in a safe, nurturing setting.
Steve, whose daughter Neve Cole (aged 3) attends St Marys every week said: “I really wanted to do something to help St Mary’s because Neve has such a brilliant time there. Although the Pre-School has been part of the Lymm community for many years it needs support so it can continue to offer families the option of friendly low-cost childcare.”
Lynn Smith, Manager of St Mary’s added: “Steve is undertaking a massive task to help us raise much-needed funds for the Pre-School and we’re incredibly grateful for his help. The children love to cycle in the outdoor play area at pre-school and this sets a great example for them. I hope the local community will show their support for Steve’s efforts and consider sponsoring him.”
Anyone interested in sponsoring Steve can contact Lynn at St Mary’s on 07947 692003.
