Pupils' local knowledge tested

YEAR Six pupils at two primary schools had their local knowledge put to the test in a competition organised by Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Youngsters from St Thomas’ CE Primary and Stockton Heath Primary were shown a series of photographs of buildings and landmarks in the village and asked to identify them and answer questions about them.
The competition was devised by council chairman Cllr Graham Roughsedge, who later went to the schools to present the prizes.
Gift vouchers worth £25, £15 and £10 were awarded to three winners from each school.
Cllr Roughsedge said: “We think it is important that children have some knowledge of the place where they live, its history, landmarks, etc., and hope the competition has resulted in all the children learning something about Stockton Heath.”
Winners were: Stockton Heath Primary School: 1, Ellie Dunn; 2, Allyssa Smith; 3, Alex Taylor.
St Thomas’ Primary School: 1, Ilona Reid; 2, Lydia Graham; 3, George Bogg.
