Golfers go biking for charity

EIGHT members of a Warrington golf society are to spend three days completing a coast-to-coast cycle ride for charity.
They are members of the Sportsman’s Arms Golf Society at Penketh – and their ride will start on Friday, October 11.
The society holds various events throughout the year in aid of a chosen charity and the ride is the idea of society captain Nathan Roberts, who decided to try something different.
Starting from Workington, the eight members will ride to Tynemouth, near Newcastle, aiming to get there on Sunday, October 13.
Taking part in the ride with Nathan will be Paul Humphreys, Wayne Humphreys, Michael Gleave, Craig Canning, Dave Illidge, Brian Denley, and Gary Upham.
Since January they’ve been training hard, and cycling every week in preparation for the 135 mile ordeal.
Anyone wishing to donate can do so at www.justgiving.com/humph75, or fill in a sponsor form at the Sportsman’s Arms pub, Penketh.
