IT was a real family affair for the McArthurs from Rixton, Warrington at Oulton Park in the British Racing Sports Car Club race day.
David had a narrow lead in the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship and was at Oulton Park to attempt to increase his lead where he was up against his father Neil. At the same time brother Tom, who is in 8th place in the championship was helping out in the pits but was not taking part in the days racing.
Both David and Neil in class ‘A’ were driving identical Medina Sport Van Diemen LA10 cars in the race.
David qualified for the race in 5th position while Neil could only manage 13th place.
During the race Neil had to retire on lap two and David crashed on lap nine of the 10 lap race.
Both will be hoping for better results in the next event.
