MORE than 6000 children took park in the Golden Square Shopping Centre’s carnival-themed Summer Camp in August, with bosses and parents hailing it a success.
Children took part in craft workshops, playing giant games and perfecting circus skills.
Local mum, Sarah, from Orford, said: “We visited Summer Camp last year and I honestly didn’t think it could get much better and it actually has. I love the circus theme. The camp is so magical and exciting for all the children of Warrington. My two children have had a wonderful day at Summer Camp. We will definitely be back for more fun very soon.”
“The buzz that Summer Camp has created has been fantastic this year. We’ve been much busier than usual and have seen a 20% increase in sales year on year.” added Adrian Duffey, Manager at toy shop, The Entertainer.
The event has attracted thousands of people from Warrington and the surrounding area, with people travelling from further afield to join in the fun.
Liverpool grandmother, Maureen, said: “I bring my two grandchildren to Summer Camp three times a week. They both absolutely love it here; they don’t want to go anywhere else! The shops here are brilliant. I usually shop in Liverpool but with the girls wanting to come here I have been doing all my shopping at Golden Square.”
Ian Cox, General Manager at Golden Square, said: “The feedback about Summer Camp has been fantastic. Not only is it incredibly popular with the public, retailers have also reported a significant increase in footfall and sales, so it’s been a great boost to the Warrington economy.
“We’re very proud of Summer Camp and can’t wait to start planning how we can top it next year!”
