VANDALS started a fire in a dead tree in Maltmans Road, Statham, Lymm.
Firefighters from Stockton Heath were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze using a bucket of water.
Anyone who has information about how the fire was started is asked to call police on 101 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
