THERE are just nine days to go until the Spire Healthcare English Half Marathon on Sunday September 8 and warrington worldwide have teamed up with organisers to give runners and spectators an inside track.
This year the event, which was officially launched at LiveWire’s Orford Park Jubilee Hub, will have a food festival on Victoria Park which has been organised in conjunction with Warrington Market.
There will be 12 stalls showcasing a variety of foods from hog roasts, Greek, African cuisine, local ice cream and so much more.
The food festival event is free to access for runners, specators and visitors to the park.
Meanwhile it is still not too late to enter the half-marathon – for more details visit www.run-ehm.com
Plans are also in the pipeline to make the course suitable for disabled athletes next year.
Former paralympian Adrian Darbyshire from Warrington Disability Partnership has been testing out the course and is set to take part in the half-marathon using a special trike.
There is also a LiveWire Mile Challenge event taking place at 9.30am – where people can take a mile challenge for just £2.50 while raising money for a charity of choice.
Race Director Rob Griffiths said: “The aim is to make the event accessible to the whole community. It is very much a Warrington event.”
More than 2,500 runners have already registered for the race, with around 40 per cent based in Warrington.
But some entrants are coming from as far as New Zealand to take part!
