Pride – and adoption opportunities

WARRINGTON Pride, the town’s annual LGBT event, will take place on Saturday, September 7 in Queen’s Gardens – offering an opportunity for people of any sexual orientation to find out more about adopting a child.
WWiSH – the pioneering shared adoption service run by Warrington, Wigan and St Helens – will have a stand at the event.
Members of their team will be on hand to offer advice, information and guidance to couples and singles from all walks of life
Cllr Colin Froggatt, Warrington Borough Council’s lead member for children and young people’s services, said: “Adoption is a viable option for anyone wanting a family of their own.
“By attending the Warrington Pride event, WWiSH are sending out the message that you can apply to adopt, regardless of whether you are single, in a relationship, married or in a civil partnership and regardless of sexual orientation.
“The service has previously approved many adopters from the LGBT community. We are actively encouraging attendees to come along and speak to the team and to find out more.”
