WARRINGTON Museum and Art Gallery is to close for nine days from Monday, September 2 as work on major improvements to the building reach a crucial stage.
The building will reopen on Thursday, September 12 at 10am and new exhibitions and display will open on Satuday, September 14.
Principal museum manager Janice Hayes said: “Even with all the work taking place we have managed to keep the museum open over the whole of the summer school holidays and with very little disruption to the many visitors who came to see our exhibitions and take part in our summer holiday activities.
“We have decided to close the Museum now for a few days so scaffolding can be removed and the entrance hall decorated quickly and safely. Work is progressing well and we’re pleased to be opening two of our galleries again with new displays and a new exhibition.”
The new Cabinet of Curiosities gallery, which has received Heritage Lottery Funding, will open early next year.
